SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 7

Requesting the governor to direct the division of highways to do a feasibility study for an overpass on Routes 7 and 19 to Interstate 79.

Whereas, Traffic congestion at the junction of Routes 7 and 19 and Interstate 79 is heavily burdensome; and
Whereas, This traffic congestion seriously hampers the movement of ambulance and fire service as well as law enforcement during emergency situations; and
Whereas, Route 19 is the main route to both the Monongalia County Hospital and West Virginia University Medical Center; and
Whereas, Route 7 is the only access route to Interstate 79 for the western part of Monongalia County; and
Whereas, Routes 7 and 19 are also the main route to the West Virginia University campus and the Coliseum and Mountaineer Field; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature requests the governor to direct the division of highways to do a feasibility study for an overpass on Routes 7 and 19 to Interstate 79 to eliminate the current traffic congestion problem; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the governor and the commissioner of the division of highways.
